Manufacturing
Emfinity knows from experience that design practices that include designing a product for manufacturing can improve a product's margin and reduce the associated costs in procurement, warehousing, handling and other general areas. In addition, a simpler designs means simplified assembly operations, fewer fabrication steps, reduced manufacturing processes and reduced product lead times. Manufacturing personnel on the design team can determine if designs can eliminate components, combine assemblies, or simplify assembly functions.
Sometimes simpler means using off the shelf standard components to simplify the design and manufacturing activities. This could improve lead times, reduce inventoried items, reduce non-recurring engineering and support costs, and improve quality. |
